Frontman latest through the door
Town have completed the permanent signing of Gassan Ahadme from Burton Albion for an undisclosed fee.
The imposing striker, who is the Blues’ eighth new arrival this summer, has penned a three-year deal at Portman Road.
The Club has the option to extend Gassan’s contract by a further 12 months.
Born in Spain, Gassan came through the youth ranks at Gimnástic Manresa before making the move to England with Norwich in 2019, making two appearances for the Canaries’ U21 side in the Football League Trophy that autumn and netting once.
A loan stint back in his country of birth at Real Oviedo Vetusta followed, before a temporary spell at Portsmouth in the first half of last term.
The 21-year-old, who is also eligible to represent Morocco internationally, joined Burton in January of this year, scoring three goals in 14 further appearances in League One.
Gassan has started this campaign in fine form, netting five goals in eight appearances across all competitions in 2022/23.
He also impressed against Town when Kieran McKenna’s side travelled to Burton earlier this month.
The forward hit the bar inside the opening minute at Pirelli Stadium and was also denied by a stunning Christian Walton save in the second half as the Blues went on to win 1-0.
"I am really excited to be here," Gas, as the frontman likes to be known, told iFollow Ipswich.
"I have played at Portman Road before and it was an amazing feeling. To be here now, as a player for the Club, feels amazing.
"Everything that people have told me about the Club has been positive, and I had a really good chat with the manager.
"The first thing that supporters can expect from me is hard work. Hopefully, there will also be goals.”
"We feel like Gassan is a really good fit for us," Kieran McKenna added.
"He is at an age where he is hungry and he has had a strong start to the season.
"Gassan adds another element to our attack, particularly with his height, and can come straight into the fold."
