"The scholars and schoolboys have been a credit to themselves and the Club"

Town's Academy delivered a series of football festivals and events for grassroots teams last week.

Coming as part of the Academy recruitment department's half-term schedule, local teams and players ranging from six to 16 years old had the opportunity to experience the Playford Road environment, and participate in highly competitive fixtures against clubs they may not necessarily play in their week-to-week fixture programmes.

As well as teams from Suffolk, clubs and players from Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Essex and London all participated across the week.

A number of the Academy's scholars and schoolboys supported the events by coaching teams and officiating games, providing a work experience opportunity for some of the young Blues.

"It was excellent to welcome so many grassroots clubs to the training ground, and to provide these opportunities," Alex Kaufman, Head of Academy Recruitment, told the Club website.

"It is key for us as a Club to continue connecting with local communities from Ipswich and across Suffolk as well as the surrounding regions.

"The scholars and schoolboys have been a credit to themselves and the Club, supporting the events throughout the week. They've shown good initiative, leadership and a willingness to help others and drive standards.

"It is important to provide these opportunities to accompany their playing journey for their continued learning and development off the pitch."
