Bio

Ali signed a long-term deal at Town, arriving in January 2024 for an undisclosed fee from AFC Wimbledon.

Born in Iraq, Ali moved to England with his family at the age of one, settling in Liverpool before joining the youth system at Tranmere Rovers.

He moved to Swansea in 2018 and went on to sign a professional contract with the South Wales club, having originally joined as a scholar, before beginning his senior career following a transfer to Wycombe Wanderers in 2021.

His time at Adams Park saw him spend a spell on loan at Bromley in 2022, before making the full-time switch to Wimbledon 12 months ago.

The striker scored 10 goals in his first 19 games for the Dons, ending the 2022/23 campaign strongly, before picking up where he left off at the beginning of the current season, netting 17 times in 29 appearances before heading to the Asian Cup.

Ali then helped Town secure promotion to the Premier League, where he became the first ever Iraqi to play in the top-flight of English football in August 2024 after replacing Liam Delap from the bench against Liverpool.
