Bio

The Ipswich-born defender came through the Town youth system and has now established himself as a first-team regular.

The centre-half made his senior Town debut in a 2-0 League Cup win over Luton Town in August 2017 and, after returning from a loan spell with Bromley in the National League, made his Championship bow in a 4-0 win away at Reading in April of 2018.

He spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Swindon Town, making 36 appearances in League Two and, after returning to Portman Road, began to establish himself as a first-team regular with Town in 2019/20.

Wolfy started 41 of the Blues’ 46 league games as Kieran McKenna’s side won promotion back to the Championship in 2022/23, as part of a defence which only conceded 35 goals along the way.

He remained a mainstay of the side in the second tier, making 42 appearances and scoring once during a stunning season which ended with promotion to the Premier League.

Woolfenden made his Premier League debut against Liverpool on 17 August 2024.

He is contracted to Town until the summer of 2027, having signed a new long-term deal in 2024.
