Rene Gilmartin joined the Club as an assistant to John McGreal in December 2021, at a time when the former Town defender was in interim charge of the first-team. 

Following Kieran McKenna's appointment, Rene became the club’s Head of Goalkeeping and has become a vital member of the coaching staff. 

Rene, whose playing career saw him represent the likes of Walsall, Watford, Plymouth Argyle and Colchester United, also now holds a role as Goalkeeper Coach in the Republic of Ireland senior team.
